Big accuracy improvements this time:
- Retrained the LSTM on 20 million tokens of modern movie and TV dialogue instead of 19th-century literature, so predictions sound like how people actually talk.
- Extended the context window from 4 to 6 words.
- The LSTM now blends with the n-gram model instead of replacing it, combining context-aware suggestions with words learned from your own writing.
- Fixed a long-standing bug where accepting a prediction corrupted the context, making the next prediction ignore everything you'd typed before.

This update adds an optional LSTM neural network predictor trained on 116 Project Gutenberg books. It provides context-aware predictions that complement the n-gram model. Toggle it on in Settings > Word Predictor.
The n-gram model remains the default. The LSTM is opt-in.

“AI tools are becoming more prevalent in healthcare, helping overworked doctors to carry the workload. But it has come with concerns.
New research by a privacy watchdog has raised serious concerns about AI being used in medical settings due to its propensity to "hallucinate" false symptoms or conditions, and warned patients were at risk.
Ms Green only picked up the mistake after her kidney stone surgery in March, when she read the post-operative letter her specialist sent to her GP.
It stated Ms Green micro-dosed mushrooms and that could be the reason for prior bleeding around the kidneys.
"For this letter to say something that wasn't based in any evidence but could potentially have huge consequences for me … it was quite scary," she said.
"It felt very impersonal to me. I wasn't getting the level of care and familiarity from the doctor that I would be hoping for in such a vulnerable situation."”

“Time is selling ads to AI agents. Perplexity refuses to let them work.
Less than two weeks after Digiday reported that Time had started serving ads inside the markdown versions of its webpages, aimed at AI agents rather than human readers, Perplexity confirmed that it blocked those ads from influencing its own search index.
In an emailed statement to Digiday, Perplexity’s chief communications officer Jesse Dwyer said the company works “continuously” to protect users from deceptive practices, sponsored or not, and warned that publishers who deploy “deceptive advertising like markdown ads” risk a reputational downgrade in Perplexity’s proprietary search index, including a hit to their trust score.
Perplexity did not respond to questions about how the AI company is defining “deceptive” practices or advertising — or how they are logistically blocking Time’s ads.”

I never thought I would be posting anything about AI, but the past few days I have been assaulted with various topics concerning this subject and thought I should weigh in. First, let me say I am not against AI. I am, however, against AI becoming the norm. Let me try to clarify.
AI is a useful tool when we are looking for information about a particular subject; however, it has always had and will always have limitations.

These questions and answers are generated by AI and may not be accurate, comprehensive, or relevant . Always use good judgment when relying on AI results.
We discussed AI in this past Sunday’s Adult Bible study and all agreed on the need to proceed with caution, to be Bereans. This was never more evident than in the recent case of a Mississippi professor

But I’m about 33% of the way through @emilymbender and Alex Hanna’s book, “The AI Con”, and I’ve really learned a lot more.
